China: How blogging has changed my life

Chinese Blogger Conference 2006

The Chinese Blogger Conference will take place in Hanzhou this weekend. To prepare for the conference, the organizers announced a submission of posts on “How blogging has changed my life?”

Keso has reviewed the posts and yesterday announced the best two. The two bloggers, Zola and Xiao Mei, were awarded with two free tickets to the conference.

So how blogging has changed their lives?

Zola: Transformed by Blog: A story of blogger nicknamed Zola

Before I wrote blog, there are less than 1000 persons know about me; after a few years writing blog, I know that the number has exceeded 1000. Through blogging, I have met many friends of my generation, also from the older generation. I read much more than before, and my social circle has extended. Now I have 927 contacts in my Gtalk, some of them are gmail friends, some got my gtalk contact from my blog notice. Although not so many of them have initiate chatting with me, I believe, at least half of them know my name.

Xiao Mei: A fake blogger's blogging life:

In July 2004, I have my first blog. It is in a local blog hosting website. Before that, I were more keen on BBS. However, I don't like big BBS like Tianya and Mop, there are too many people there, an average person like me would become invisible. I enjoy smaller and warmer spaces. My initial understanding of blog was: a personal website. I updated the content from time to time, about my feelings, gatherings and shared with others some writings that i like. At that time, blog were like a hodgepodge. The visitor rate was not bad which could fulfill my pride. However, there were too many passerby, at time passed, I felt bored…

… July 2005, a date I will remember in my whole life. Friends from my blog: from Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanking, New Zealand, etc… they secretly work through the internet and prepare a very special birthday present for me together.

There is a special piece written by Xin yuan-kang, a blind blogger.

Xin yuan-kang: Blog-spiritual window for black eyes

Early this year, I heard from my friends that blogging is very popular in the internet, everyone can record their feelings and idea in the blog. Sharing feelings in the past and at the present. This good news has brightened my eyes. It would be most suitable to me. I even had the idea of the title of my first post: “open a small window for my mind”…

… I have been writing for half year by now, although it does not really help my small business, actually, I have anticipated that. Because for those who are reading my blog or friends who enjoy massage, they are not neccessarily staying in my city. However, some of our customers, after reading my blog, they told our massage therapists that: “After reading your blog, I have a feeling that you are so keen about life, so confident about living. I really feel respectful…”
