Argentina: Gender Equality Survey

Categories: Latin America, Argentina, Politics, Women & Gender

The official Buenos Aires city government blog summarizes the results of a recent survey on inequality between men and women in Argentina's capital city [ES] [1]: “8 out of 10 Buenos Aires residents call their society very or somewhat ‘machista.’ Furthermore, 70% think that women must do more to compete with men in the workplace … 59.5% of respondents did not put down the name of a single woman that they admire. Among those who did declare admiring a woman, only 73% could remember the name. The first on the list was Chilean President Michelle Bachelet followed by Madonna, Cristina Kirchner, and Elisa Carrió.” As always, more survey and poll numbers [2] from around Latin America at Bloggings by Boz.
