Africa: Madonna adoption debate

Diary of a Mad Kenyan Woman has a Madonna opinion,”And wouldn’t you be disappointed if I didn’t? As you can probably imagine, the whole set-up is ridiculous and absurd as per maoni yangu. The boy has a father. He may not be a celebrity, a star or white, but he is this boy’s family. He gives him up to Madonna on the clear and stated grounds that he hopes for a better life for his son, which he, the father, himself cannot afford to give him.”

I think it’s awful what the media, and these socalled human rights groups are doing to that little boys’ father in Malawi. It’s sad enough for a father, not to be able to care for his own son, but then be barraged by these fools, obviously puting him and his story in a spotlight that he did not ask for. They claim to want to do everything “exactly by the letter of the law” with adoptions- How about adding some privacy, and basic human respect for the parties giving up their children? This case is disgusting, and this group should perhaps spend their time trying to help the poor mothers, dying by the thousands, of AIDS, so that maybe the could have a chance to spend a little more time with their babies in the first place!!
