Anonymous blogger Alloush [1] writes about a discovery he made while surfing the world wide web.
The Arab blogger found an online forum [2] bringing together unemployed people from across Saudi Arabia [3] – which he is quick to distance himself from!

Your Royal Highnesses, Your Excellencies the Ministers, My Unemployed brothers, Welcome to Btalah.com! This site would surely embarrass the Saudi Labour Minister! This was my first impression when I stumbled – by complete coincidence – upon this illegal gathering bringing together hundreds of unemployed people. I would like to stress that I found the site by sheer coincidence and that I have nothing to do with this rebel organisation or even the Al Qaeda group!
Away from Saudi Arabia, Mayada Medhat [4] from Egypt has her own axe to grind after getting a barrage of personal insults on her blog. Although she deleted the offensive entry, she writes:
للاسف يبدو اننا صرنا فى زمن يعز على الاشرار فيه ان يتركوا شيئا جميلا على حاله. عندما دشنت مدونتى كان الامل ان تكون طاقة من النور لعشاق الوطن والحرية. والى قريب كانت التعليقات التى تأتينى حتى ولو اختلفت معى وهاجمتنى فى منتهى الاحترام.. ولكن يبدو ان احد الحاقدين ممن يعرفونى شخصيا قد اراد تشويه المدونة ومش بعيد يكون حاجة من اثنين اما حد زميل او بمعنى ادق زميلة وهما عارفين نفسهم، واما من امن الدوله لكن استبعد ذلك لانهم لم يهاجمونى وانا اتكلم فى السياسة فما الذى يجعلهم يفعلون ذلك عندما ابتعد عنها؟ الى كل من ساندنى منذ طفولتى الى محنتى الاخيرة فى مواجهة التعليقات الخارجه على مدونتى او حتى فى الحرب الشرسة التى اتعرض لها فى العمل أشكركم ولولاكم ما وقفت على قدمى لاواجه كل هذه السخافات. قراء المدونة اضطررت لحذف التدوينة اfلاخيرة لان كل التعليقات عليها فى منتهى الانحلال رغم اننى كنت اتحدث فيها عن سورة من القرآن. وما المنى هو ان البعض يتخذ ديننا هزوا ولعبا.. الشكر لمن ساندونى ، اما الاخرون فسأتبع معهم حكمتى الابدية ” الكلاب عندما تبح لا يرد عليها الا الكلاب ” ولذلك لن ارد فالذئاب تعوى والقافلة تسير
It is a shame that we are at an age where the evil people cannot leave anything good on its own. When I started my blog, I was full of hope that it would be an energy of light for the lovers of this nation and freedom. Until recently, I used to get comments even when their writers disagreed with me – they attacked me with full respect. But it seems that someone full of spite from amongst those who know me wanted to cause damage to this blog. I won't be surprised if it is one of two: either a colleague who knows herself or the secret police. I doubt the police are responsible because they have left me alone when I wrote about politics so why would they react when I wasn't writing about it? To all those who have supported me since I was a child until my last problem facing the barrage of vicious attacks on my blog and the battle I face at my job, I would like to say thank you. I was forced to delete the previous entry because all the comments on it were very low despite me writing about a verse from the Holy Quran. I would like to thank all those who supported me. To the rest I would like to say: When dogs hear other dogs bark, they respond by barking back. I would therefore refrain from commenting because I believe that the wolves can howl while the caravan continues on its route.
In Iraq, Tara [5] is angry that UAE singer Hussain Al Jasmi failed to confirm that a song in his recent album was an Iraqi song.

Singer Hussain Al Jasmi couldn't bring himself to admit that the song he performed (He Sure is a Maestro) is an Iraqi song. When he was asked whether it was Iraqi, he said it was an old song which he had recieved via Bluetooth. The song is 100 per cent Iraqi and is not old nor folkloric but from the Seventies and I wouldn't be surprised if its writer and composer were still alive today. I don't know why I got angry when I heard him deny its Iraqi origin and I couldn't complete watching the television show he was speaking at. It may perhaps be my Libra repulsion of injustice working within me. He must have thought to himself: Why not take the credit for it. Those Iraqis are so used to being abused by everyone without complaining. Anyway, he wouldn't have lost much by admitted it was an Iraqi song. On the contrary, you would have proved your credibility.
Speaking of culture and music, another Iraqi blogger living in Canada – Ihath [6] – is busy marketing her new book [7] – Don't Shoot – I Have Another Story to Tell You.
بالرغم من أنني مشغولة في موضوع الكتاب. تسويق. طباعة. وغيره . إلا أني أريد أن أذكر بعض الناس اللذين شجعوني على الكتابة وشجعوني على نشر الكتاب ولولاهم لما كان هذا الكتاب موجود اليوم. والشخص الذي أود ذكره اليوم هو داريل. وقد كان من الأوائل اللذين إشتروا نسخة من الكتاب لأنه كان من الأوائل الذين بعثت لهم بريد إلكتروني أعلن عن وجود الكتاب
Despite being busy with the book's launch, its marketing, printing and other matters, I wanted to pay tribute to people who encouraged me to write and publish a book. Without their support, this book you see today wouldn't have been possible. The person I would like to acknowledge today is Daryl. He was among the first to buy a copy of the book because he was among the first I informed by email about it.
Despite being a firm supporter, Daryl didn't necessarily agree with all of Ihath's ideas.
داريل يسكن في فيلاديلفيا ويعمل في شركة في نيويورك. تعرفت عليه عن طريق العمل لأن عملي يحتم على السفر أحيانا في أمريكا. وبالرغم من إختلاف الأراء ووجهات النظر بيننا إلا أن داريل كان دائما يشجعني على الكتابة. داريل رجل محافظ ومسيحي متدين لا يعرف عن ما يوجد خارج إطار أمريكا سوى القليل. وبالتالي نختلف مع بعض سياسيا في كل شيئ تقريبا. ولكن ما وجد داريل مدونتي باللغة الإنجليزية حتى أصر بأنه يلزم أن أنشر كتاب. كنت أقول له بأن نشر كتاب يلزم عمل ومجهود كبير و أنا مشغولة وليس عندي وقت لذالك. ولكن داريل كان يصر على الموضوع. وكلما تكلمت معه كان يسألني “متي سوف أقرأ كتابك؟” كان يلح على هذا الموضوع بحيث كنت أتضايق منه أحيانا.
Daryl lives in Philadelphia and works in New York. I met him during a work trip the the US and despite our differences in opinion, he always encouraged me to write. Daryl is a conservative and strict Christian who knows very little about life outside America. We therefore disagree on almost everything. But as soon as Daryl found my English blog [8], he insisted that I write my own book. I used to tell him that publishing a book takes a lot of time and effort and because I was too busy, I didn't have the time for that. He would ask me about when he would read my new book every time he spoke to me to the extent that I started getting annoyed with his nagging.
Not a bad push from someone who opposes all your opinions I suppose!
