[…] Bloggers Speculate about Fidel Castro’s Health Cuban president Fidel Castro ceded power on Monday to his brother and chosen successor, Raul, to undergo surgery for stress-related intestinal bleeding. This is the first time Castro has relinquished any of his duties as head of the communist state since he came to power in 1959. Following news of Castro’s illness, Havana’s military comittee started moblizing young men registered to them. Cuban exiles have been gathering in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana district to celebrate what they preceive to be the demise of the Cuban president. Some even believe he is already dead. Castro’s estranged sister has hit out at the celebrations. Bloggers around the world are speculating about Castro’s condition and Cuba’s future.
