Palestine: Palestine: From Gaza, with Love!
Mona El-Farra, a Palestinian blogger from Gaza, a physician and a human rights and women's rights activist, describe last night's Israeli attck on Gaza in a letter to here freind in UK, Hilary. She said: “I am writing while the jet fighters are in the sky , with their horrible sound , bringing death and horror,it is 10.30pm, I am still like everyone waiting , i hope they will not go ahead with their operation into Gaza, the outcome could be horrible ,the resistance movemet are going ahead with their preperation too,but the balance of power is obvious to wich side…Mohammed and Sondos had a narrow escape during their way home , a car exploded 150 meters from my home…the aeroplanes sound in the sky is geting louder . i shall keep writing , it is big releif for me…the operation against Gaza ,is continuing,it is 1.30 am…i can see a big fire from my window , and hear the sirens of emergency vans,the gun boats started shelling too , i live by the beach…7 am, it was very dangerous for me to reach the computer… i stayed on the floor with my son and daughter, we didnot sleep at all like all the residents in gaza strip.while trying to get some hours of sleep , we didnot manage , the jet fighters sonic bombs started showering us , it is very loud and horrifying voice , they are continuing their attacks.”

I feel deep sympathy for you, all of you in Gaza. I hope this will end soon.Feel so helpless.
I am interested in your definition of “right of return” as a requirement for peace.
Do you refer only to palestinian refugees, or to ALL refugees of the 1948 war? In addition to those from Palestine, there were over 800,000 jews who were forcibly displaced from almost all Arab countries; forced to leave their properties and posessions behind. Everything was confiscated, and there have been no signs of compensation from the countries involved.
If the Palestinians are allowed to return to their places in Israel, will those displaced Jews also
be allowed to return? Will their properties be re-instated? Since more than fifty years have passed, will their descendants also be allowed to return, as you ask for the displaced Palestinians’ families?
Also, as you no doubt realize, Israel has vastly improved much of the former homes and farmlands of the displaced arabs. If they are allowed to return, will they reimburse Israel for the improvements that now exist? (some of the land, for instance, is now under cities or very expensive homes and buildings)

All that aside, I would like to say that I enjoy your blog greatly. Just as in your case, we in Canada receive very little information about your way of life, and the problems you face. You are supplying a much-needed window into Gaza I, personally, have great sympathy for your plight, and wish, just as you do, for a just peace.
