David – can you read Spanish? I can’t and it would be intriguing to know what Mariano is saying about them. Can you translate? N.B. I work for the BBC and helped draw up the BBC’s Guidelines for Personal Weblogs.
Nick, this is a “quick translation” but the idea is to praise the BBC initiative :)
“Finally the BBC made public their blogging guidelines, that should be followed not only if they blog within the BBC webproperties but also if the bloggers identifies as a BBC person
One part to be noted is the process on how those guidelines were built, explained by Euan Semple; they build it in collaboration between the company and the blogging employees.
Like always, the BBC, surprises on how it involves in the process all the parts; as they use participative tools and, mainly, as they understand that blogs are going to be part of their “existence”
In spite of being done between all the involved parts, some guidelines seem very rigid to me, perhaps because I am a blogger, however those guidelines may be adapted by other media companies and thus to be able to blog without conflict of interest.
In fact i’m going to apply some things with the blog at “Clarin.com” to see if there is something I can improve.”
