Black Britian: mental illness

Soul on Ice discusses mental illness amongst Britains black population. Africans and African Caribbean have the highest incidence of mental illness despite their relatively low numbers in the wider population

    Why it’s about us black people it alway have to be negatitive? It’s not true that black people are amongst the biggest group to have mental illenss. It’s white women and Indian men.

  • Admitting to facts is not being negative! Why are we Black people always in denial of the truth. Having the highest rate of mental illness (in relation to population numbers) in the UK is nothing to be ashamed us. It is a reflection of the destructiveness of racism and its impact on our lives. Instead of denying it we should be challenging the racism that leads to so much mental illness in our communities.
