Haiti: Daylight saving time

Categories: Caribbean, North America, Haiti, U.S.A., Arts & Culture, Travel

"We have now joined our friends and family in the Central Time Zone," write [1] Troy & Tara & Tribe, US missionaries based in La Digue, Haiti, thinking that Haiti does not observe Daylight Saving Time. Then "a teacher in Port-au-Prince" e-mails [2], informing them that they'd better turn their clocks forward. "No one in LaDigue seems to think we are springing forward. . . .," says Troy & Tara & Tribe. "No one knows what time it is, and no one cares. So Haitian. We are off to church soon, not sure when it starts, not sure what time it is now. As soon as we hear the singing we'll know it is time."
