The Western media are condemning Yahoo! again for handing over the personal account information of Li Zhi to the Chinese government. Li Zhi was sentenced to 8 years in jail for ‘inciting subversion’. In September 2005, Yahoo was accused of helping Chinese authorities identify Shi Tao, a dissident who was sentenced in April to 10 years in prison. ESWN argues that the reporting “is completely blowing the role of Yahoo! in this case out of proportion [1]“.
