Don Dunnigton at the IAOC Blog reports that bloggers have been invited to attend a press conference hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organization in New York, which causes the Caribbean Beat Blog to wonder whether bloggers have arrived, and also whether Caribbean governments might be persuaded to implement free municipal wi-fi by being reminded of the free publicity to be gained from tourist bloggers.

Hard to say. For example, blog posts critical of government in Trinidad and Tobago don’t seem to get posted during Carnival season, so it’s difficult to say that blogs have arrived. In my eyes, blogs are alternative media, not recombinations of mainstream media.
