China: “Geisha” Banned?

Angry Chinese Blogger comments on the indefinite postponement of the opening of Hollywood movie “Memoirs of a Geisha” in China. The movie has attracted a lot of criticism from Asians who decry (for different reasons) a Chinese actress portraying a Japanese hostess.

Err, there are no Japanese hostesses in ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’, only Geisha.
It’s an attempt at a euphemism for what geisha do.
Fair enough, but many Japanese find this offensive. Especially as Japan has many ‘hostesses’ and ‘hostess bars’ and there is stuff that I can do with them for a handful of yen that I couldn’t do with a Geisha for a million dollars.
