Sudan: refugees to be repatriated over 5 years

Passion of the Present reports that the UN is to facilitate the return of 60,000 refugees to the South of Sudan by May next year………..”The move started Saturday and it could take up to five years to repatriate all 560,000 southern Sudanese refugees in seven neighboring countries — Central African Republic, Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda — said Jean-Marie Fakhouri, the head of operations in Sudan for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.”

I believe the recent events in Cairo provide a clear example of the response of Sudanese refugees to the idea of being returned to Sudan. The “Peace Accord” is a sham. The historical hatred between the Islamic North and the Tribal south, (Unfairly characterized in the news as predominantly Christian) will not be solved by a document. The Characterization of the Southern Tribes, over 400, many of whom are not Christians allows the news to report this as a Christian/Muslim struggle. This struggle is clearly racial and religion hatred on the part of the extremest muslims in the Sudan against anyone who will not submit to Islamic law and convert to Islam.

If I were a refugee, I would not return to Sudan. Until fanatical Islam is erased from the Middle East and Asia, we will continue to see the wanton execution of peacful people simply because they refuse to submit to Islam.

  • my brothers and sisters a home is a home however much there is some other mistreatment taking place illegally
you should not say or get discourage that you will not come back to sudan am telling you “home is home” i was in exile as a refugee for twenty years and i was not feeling at home in that country why? because i was not at home.and now am at home and i really don’t believed am begging all the sudanese who are still in exile as a refugee come home and see with your own eyes and enjoy the milk and the honey that flows from your mother’s breast.
