Welcome back to the Turkish Blogosphere…. Here is a quick update on the newest items from the Turkish Bloggers who post mostly in English.
Zik Zak [1] has an interesting link to an educational book called “Who are the Turks” [2] if you are interested in learning more about the Turkish people. Turkish Digest [3] is also an interesting site for up-to-date news information on Turkey. Mavi Boncuk [4] has a couple of interesting book reviews on three new books out: The Young Turks [5] by Moris Farhi, The Yezidis [6] by Eszter Spat, and Sufi Cuisine [7] by Nevin Halici. Mustafa Akyol of the The White Path [8], who writes on many of the social/political aspects of Turkey has been focusing on Intelligent design and the Intelligent Design Network [9] which he was recently was asked to join. Idil from Ignore Me If You Can [10] wrote recently about recent earthquakes in the Aegean [11], which is a concern for many Turks in the region, especially those living in the Istanbul and Izmir region which suffered so in the 1999 Earthquake [12]. Murat from Amerikan Turk [13] recently had his photo in the VELONEWS photo gallery [14]. Mert Ulas [15] ponders on how much control [16] he has in his life, and what the perfect operating system would look like [17]. Socioeconomics [18] has a very interesting read on randon thoughts on States and the human race. [19]
Very little has been written about the bird flu in Turkey this week, although Idil from Metroblogging Istanbul wrote about a press conference given by the Turkish government to show that there is nothing wrong with eating poultry [20]. Another interesting item off of Metroblogging Istanbul [21] was about a project [22] called the Face of Tomorrow [23], where photos of different individuals from various regions are blended to create one common face, you can see the face of Istanbul here. [24]
I had entended to focus a little on Turkish poetry blogs today, but that will have to wait for another day as there will be a lot of bridge-blogging involved.
As there is such a large number of Turkish blogs (Blog Kardesligi [25] alone has over 800 listed) I thought that I would start a feature of the top 3 most interesting finds of the week…So here are this week's top three:
1. Kutuphane (Library in Turkish) [26] which posts about different libraries.
2. Back to the 80's (in Turkish) [27] focuses on all things of the 1980's pop culture.
3. A fantastic photo blog can be found at Tenturdiyot [28].
