Malaysia's National day falls on the same day we observe Blog Day, August 31. Blogger Minishorts feels the 48-year independence has been taken for granted, TV Smith's heart sank seeing the faded and forlorn fluttering with a few remaining shreds of dignity. Some English bloggers chose to write in the national language just for the day. Belacan Times has 10 items on the wishlist, anti-corruption being one of them.

Malaysia’s National Day should be on 16th September
The official National Day for Malaysia is August 31, and this day has been observed as such since 1957 when Malaya gained independence from the British. September 16, 1963 was the day Singapore, Sabah aned Sarawak joined the enlarged Malaya to form Malaysia (As history had it, Singapore withdrew and declared itself an independent country on August 9, 1965). You should have given the complete context as your comment is misleading.

16 September is Malaysia Day while 31 August is Malaysia’s National Day and both of them are celebrated nationally
