Welcome to our new look!

If you've visited Global Voices before, you'll notice we've changed our look. Hope you like it.

Thanks to Boris Anthony of HelpPush.org for his painstaking work!!

As we fit into our new skin over the next hours and days, you will most likely see a few more adjustments here and there.

As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions.

  • The type is a little small, but I like the new look now.

  • Hi David,
Global Voices being, well, global, means there is a lot of stuff we want to bring to you. I hope the tradeoff of fitting as much in as possible versus reducing the font size ever so slightly was properly assessed? Also, screen resolutions vary wildly and designing in order to cover all possible setups has always definitely been something we web designers try to address, while remaining realistic that we can never please everyone. We’re still fine tuning here and there as well… ;)

Also good to know: all modern web browsers support text resizing by a simple keyboard shortcut or menu item. Try it out, and thanks for the feedback. :)

  • I’m not sure if anyone has turned in this suggestion yet, but …

I just noticed that we cannot do a Preview of an entered Comment, before Submitting it.

For those of us who stick an occassional HTML tag into our comments, I’ve found a Preview button to be invaluable. Some websites I’ve seen actually force users to do at least one Preview – to check for typos, incorrect HTML tags, etc in their Comment – before they are allowed to actually Submit it to the site.

At any rate, if GV is ever given the ability to add a Preview capability to Comments (and Posts, etc), I recommend it.

  • I like the new look and feel. It’s unique yet easy to use.

However, I read the posts via RSS, and the new World Roundups are sent out with confusing headlines. Sometimes it’ll be the title of the blog it came from and sometimes it’ll be the title of the post it links to; occasionally the headline will tell me what the article is actually about. This makes it difficult for me to scan the headlines.

Bear in mind that I do like the way you’re doing it now; I just wish that the RSS headlines would be something like “[Area]: [Country]: [Subject]”.

Thanks for providing this great service to the world community!

  • Thanks, Heather. You make a really good point. We need to make our roundup headlines more consistent.
