Digital Divide Network Launches New Online Community

Categories: Announcements

As I announced today on my blog, Andy Carvin's Waste of Bandwidth [1], the new Digital Divide Network website is now open for business:

http://www.digitaldivide.net [2]

The site is a free online community for activists around the world interested in bridging the digital divide. Among its new features are free blogs for all DDN members, bulletin board discussions, topical communities on different digital divide issues, and an array of RSS feeds that allow you to access the site's content by type (feature articles, event listings, blog postings, news, etc) and by topical community (literacy, community technology, e-gov, citizen journalists, etc).

The blogging tool is rather rudimentary, but it's designed for community activists who have never tried blogging before and are interested in exploring the medium. In some ways I hope the site will be an incubator for budding civic journalists.

DDN is free and open to anyone interested in bridging the digital divide. Please join today [3]!
