Driving standards in the Middle East have come under the scrutiny of bloggers after several people were killed and 350 injured in a 200-car pile up in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. While one blogger compared the carnage to what we see in the news about Iraq, others said that it was inevitable.

“Today, a man named Said Abdul Ghafour Khouri has agreed to pay AED 52.2 Million (US $14.3 Million) for Abu Dhabi license plate labeled “1” at an auction at the 7-star Emirates Palace Hotel here, making it the world's most expensive license plate,” reports Fahad Inc from the UAE.

Dubai Sunshine appeals to developers to leave islands alone. “I noticed that many islands had a “no trespassing allowed” sign on them…While others were littered with construction machinery. Some islands already have some private resorts built on them,” writes the blogger.
