Some wonder whether this sends an inappropriate message, while others try to see the photo with optimism.

Puerto Rico: Environmental Activist Turns Himself In

Puerto Rican environmental activist "Tito Kayak" turned himself in to police on November 14 after a spectacular televised escape, following a week-long protest atop a 200-foot construction crane in San Juan. He was protesting a disputed luxury development that environmentalists warn will cause serious damage to public beaches. Some Puerto Rican bloggers aren't impressed, while others look at the underlying causes that led to the protest.

Nicaragua: Software Freedom Day Group Wins Award

Organizers of the Software Freedom Day in Managua, Nicaragua received some good news. Their event is similar to other events held around the world designed to introduce and discuss the use of Free and Open Source software. They were one of the top three places worldwide to receive a recognition for their collaborative work from the Software Freedom Day organization and the activists hope to continue the activities in Nicaragua.
